To paint the picture we are sitting in my Handmade In Noosa network meeting on the beautiful Noosa river, soaking up the sun with a great bunch of dynamic home based business women. I am having a discussion about my love/hate relationship with Soy Wax Candles.
I am a perfectionist, and I love getting candle orders but then also feel the pressure for them to be perfect smelling and perfect appearance. So on this day I was making a huge batch of bespoke glass candles for another local business. I mentioned candles can be temperamental like people! Due to it being winter, which for us is still a delightful 20 degrees! However these precious candles like the studio room heated really hot consistently so that they then set perfectly and don’t crack. To my delight the candles and I worked well together and once completed and checked I was feeling happy and proud. I can’t wait to see some photos of them in people’s beautiful homes.
I love the ambiance, the glow, the scent and the peacefulness that candles create in a home, work space and day spas. What a treat for everybody.

Well my favourite thing this Spring is the birth of my new baby girl. She is so beautiful and precious and I feel so happy and blessed. Poor hubby is outnumbered well and truly now! Many of us relate Spring to births and also Spring cleaning. I don’t enjoy weekly cleaning, same jobs to complete all the time, and 5 mins for everyone to mess it up again. However Spring cleaning gives me a sense of accomplishing something and makes me feel better. Of course this Spring I have also been lucky to have the extra surge of nesting too, which I still seem to be in that mode even though bub was born 2 weeks a go.
So Spring is great for cleaning, decluttering, using your favourite pieces, “everyday is a special day”! Spend your money on nice things to use rather then decorative pieces that collect dust and you eventually get tired of. Have a favourite scent? Buy a candle in that scent. Want to be reminded of that scent every time you walk into a certain room? Place a reed diffuser close to an open window or where you walk past regular as this creates a breeze and gives you a burst of the scent.

They are delicious sweet treat without the indulgence. My children think they are like chocolates. They get excited and feel a bit rebellious as they pop a few in their lunch boxes. Here is the recipe so you can enjoy too.
Ingredients
1 pack Medjool dates pitted 225g
1 cup nuts
1/4 cup cacao
2 tablespoons coconut oil
4 drops Doterra peppermint oil
2 tablespoons of coconut for rolling the balls in
Method
I use my Thermomix but you could use any high powered food processor.
1. Combine dates and nuts and process on speed 8/9.
2. Add cacao, coconut oil, Doterra peppermint oil.
3. Process until it forms a dough consistency.
4. Place coconut on a large plate
5. Roll date mixture into teaspoon full balls and roll in coconut.
6. Place in fridge. They freeze well too.
A visit to Katie Rose Hospice can stir up so many emotions. Love for what all these amazing people are creating, admiration for the volunteers and people giving donations to make it all possible and sadness for the special ones you have loved that have been touched by cancer.
The networking group Handmade In Noosa created by Natasha Wenke paid a visit to Katie Rose to donate some home wares to add some special touches to the home. The donations included a reed diffuser from Noosa Melting Moments, 4 x cushions from Sunny Coast Cushion Sanctuary, handmade ceramic hearts from Wendy Britton Ceramics, a basket of personal care items from Bows and Twine, music therapy from Hurricane Duo.
Carol the coordinator, who is very passionate about her role, was very welcoming to the group and their kind donations. “Donations are always welcome”.
The group Handmade In Noosa are very passionate about raising funds and making donations to help others. It’s a cause unfortunately that is close to many members hearts from experiencing first hand the effects of cancer, with loved family and friends going through this journey.
